castration anyone?

BATON ROUGE -- A proposal to impose chemical castration on rapists and other sex offenders has moved to the Louisiana House.
Senate Bill 144 by Sen. Nick Gautreaux, D-Abbeville, won approval Wednesday from the House Criminal Justice Committee.
The panel narrowed the bill with an amendment that would allow judges to impose chemical castration on males convicted of just five sex crimes: aggravated rape, forcible rape, second-degree sexual battery, aggravated incest and aggravated crime against nature.
In an earlier version, the bill also included crimes such as kidnapping that did not involve sex.

I am not sure if I agree that chemical castration is the way to go. For one thing, it is only effective if the injections are given in a conscientious manner and consistently monitored.

Once the injection of Depo –Provera wears off, it leaves the sexual offender at a higher level of testosterone with a renewed predatory sexual drive.

I guess as a woman it would be easy for me to advocate castration; as I would never be in the position to have my balls chopped off. The only hesitation that I have with permanent castration is what if there is a mistake? There is not much that can be done to repair that type of error.

I am just wondering; if Chemical Castration does not keep a rapist from fantasizing about rape, and will render the pedophile, rapist etc. even more violent in his tendencies if he is able to surpass the system and avoid the injections, well is it worth administering the drug in the first place?

No to castration.

Seriously, ow. Not cool.

And besides, how would neutering someone make them less likely to rape or commit some other kind of sexual offense? Does the logic go "oh well if he rapes you, at least you won't get knocked up"?

I'm in agreement with you woozie.

All castration would result in is frustration for the rapist so instead of raping, he would just kill.
