RENOVATION!!!

FINALLY!!!

After waiting for over a year to find a contractor that would give me the time of day I have finally started my bathroom renovation. I realize that this would be slightly more interesting in I had taken a picture of the room before they started gutting. None the less – here are some of the gutted pictures.

I have an 1850’s Victorian. The contractor decided that no one had touched the bathroom since 1961 as they found a bunch of old newspapers wadded up in the walls. He also asserted that putting 4 inches thick of cement 6 foot up all the walls was also a 60’s thing. When they pulled out the bath tub it was galvanized steel and weighed half a ton.

If I only had known that I had my own little private bomb shelter in the house, I might have just left it alone.

As the project progresses I will post more pictures!

I wonder if our house is like that? Not willing to rip up the bathroom to find out though.

You obviously need help with the decor. These "after" shots are a huge letdown, and that green paint is hideous. You are no Martha Stewart.

Word of advice: most bathrooms have toilets. If you want to increase the resale value of your home, you should add one.

That bucket-style toilet is really hip! Where did you find it? Also, the Katrina-themed wallpaper is awesome!

Please post the "before" pics for refernce so we can judge the workmanship done to renovate your bathroom and bring it to it's current state.

I think that I must have taken a picture of the bathroom at sometime - but maybe not as it was hideous. However not to worry I still have my other bathroom to do and I have taken the "before" pictures of that.

Today they found 4 layers of floor.

No, nothing would make this any more interesting.

It would be helpful for you to actually read the post if you are going to comment. Then again, maybe the pictures are easier for you to understand.

I read it. Nothing would make it more interesting.
